QuVPN Service 3.3.1522 destroys VPN connections

Model: TS-231P
CPU: Annapurna Labs Alpine AL212 Dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU @ 1.70GHz
Version: QTS 5.2.8.3359
Version QuVPN Service: 3.3..1522

Hello,

On March 13, 2026, a forced update to the QuVPN Service app caused the app to freeze and require a restart to use VPN on a QNAP. This applies to most devices with ARM-based processors. QNAPs with AMD Ryzen Embedded V1500B Quad-core CPUs, 2200MHz, are not affected.

Has anyone else experienced this? Could you try to find a solution? Is there a previous version of QuVPN Service that can be downgraded?

I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks!

I am not using QVPN at the moment,
But what do you mean by “a forced update” ? automatic update?
And also, do you mean that it happened on several devices ?

A forced update means that when I logged into QNAP, the app was already updated and had an update date of March 13, 2026. I didn’t do this – it happened automatically. In the App Center settings, the option to automatically update required updates was checked (this likely caused the app to update itself without my permission).

As for other devices, I also have access to other devices where the situation is identical. This applies to:

  • TS-431P3
  • TS-431X2

All caused by a single update.

Attempts to restore the software to previous versions have no effect. My friend and I have reported this to QNAP support, but we haven’t received a response yet.

Make sure you do not auto update soft- or firmware in the future then

Also, you may want to download and archive the application packages so you can roll back in the future if required.

Always a good idea to have firmware copies, application packages and configuration backups (per firmware version) available to you as an option on a local storage device.

Just so you understand - there is no “forced” update as far as QNAP is concerned. There are “automatic” updates which you must have had selected.

Good evening. I have the same issue. On March 13, 2026, an automatic update to the QuVPN Service app seems to cause the app to regularly freeze and require a restart to use VPN on our QNAP. Each time another employee informs me that she/he can not use the VPN. Only today I had to restart the QNAP four times.

Open tickets please, but honestly, in a corporate environment, you should have VPN’s be managed by edge devices (firewalls or routers) not your NAS !

Same issue. Firmware upgrade forced QuVPN service upgrade and now it is not working, or requires to reboot NAS to be able to login once…

And disable any form of automated updates.

I’m experiencing the same issue.

Model: TS431KX
CPU: Annapurna Labs Alpine AL214 Quad‑core ARM Cortex‑A15 @ 1.70GHz
QTS Version: 5.2.9.3410
QVPN Service Version: 3.3.1522

The QVPN application freezes, and user authentication during VPN connection attempts is not processed on the NAS side.
To recover from the issue, I have to manually stop and restart the QVPN application from the App Center.

My App Center was configured with “Install necessary updates”, so updates were applied automatically.

In any case, rather than disabling updates going forward, I would appreciate any information on how to stabilize this VPN application or prevent this issue from happening again.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise.

same issue on 3 different qnap…. waiting for a fix

I got the following reply on my ticket: App Center has rolled back to QVPN version 3.2.10800, please roll back it manually and check if the issue persists or not.

They removed the version that was causing the issue; just click on Download in AppCenter and install the ZIP manually

Should be: unzip and install the qpgk manually

But that’s good news.
It is also recommended to keep a copy of the app installation files.

rollback to QVPN_3.2.10880_20241202

no problem.

Friends, I can’t find my model (D2) in the list of models of NAS in AppCenter to QVPN 3.2.10880. Can I use other model to download and use it? My NAS D2 CPU Annapurna Labs Alpine AL212 Dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU @ 1.70GHz

The D2 is equivalent to the TS-231P.

OneCD, thanks! I found TS-531P in the list, but no TS-231P. How do you think can I use it too?
