QVPN access fails using QBelt on O2 Nobile Network

I have tried accessing our server remotely using #QVPN and the qbelt protocol.

Using my dual SIM phone iPhone, on the Vodafone network, access always succeeds.

However, on two different iPhones in 3 different locations, on the O2 network, I cannot get past the connect stage.

Is there anyone here that can comment?

Hi

According to the information you provided, if all conditions are the same, but QBelt VPN is not working only after changing to O2 network, it may be related to O2 network.

QBelt only supports UDP and the default port is 443.
We currently have no information on whether O2 network blocks UDP or specific port numbers. We need to ask O2 about this.

If only a specific port number is blocked, you can change it to another port in the QVPN QPKG UI.

We are also trying to get O2 network to see if we will encounter the same problem.
When we have any information, we will update it immediately.

Thank you. I contacted O2 Customer Services but they did not understand the issue and were unable to help. I then escalated to O2 Executive Office, but not having much success so far; I wondered if other QNAP users were able to comment.

Hi Sir

Our colleagues in the UK have obtained an O2 SIM
We used a Pixel 8 Android Mobile phone QVPN with O2 SIM and NAS as a QBelt Server in Taiwan.

The result is able to successfully establish a QBelt VPN.
The result seems to be different from what you encountered.

More information exchange will be needed to effectively solve the problem you are currently facing.

Please report it on the QNAP support system, which can establish a communication bridge with you and try to find out the possibility of the problem.

Customer Service - QNAP.

Thank you, I will do that. I have also done a test using a Redmi Android, and that too fails. I will raise a ticket now. Thank you.

Here’s an update:

We were able to establish QBelt on the O2 network after changing the QBelt port to a non-default port (e.g., 4433).
After changing back to the default port 443, QBelt on the O2 network was no longer able to establish.

I’d like to ask what the QBelt port setting was when you were unable to connect.
Can you try changing the QBelt port to a non-default port (443) to see if that works?

The QBelt port can be changed in the NAS → QVPN Service → QBelt Server UI.

If you still cannot establish QBelt VPN after changing to port 4433, please report the issue to QNAP support.

Thank you.

Thank you. QNAP Tech Support suggested that O2 are now blocking UDP 443, and also suggested I tried port 4433, which I did.

Both my Vodafone and O2 SIMs now connect to port 4433.

I have gone back to O2 to correct their assertion that they do not block UDP 443.

Thank you QNAP Team for your great support. Much appreciated.
