There is a new service called QVR Recording Vault currently in public Beta

Due to some feedback received, here are some brief responses:
- What is Vault for?
The design concept of this software is to “actively” back up recordings and event logs from other QVR Pro/Elite devices to the NAS where Vault is installed.
Compared to traditional backups, the settings are configured on the Vault side, so you don’t need to log in to each recording host to set up scheduled backups, making centralized management much easier.
Additionally, after backup, the recordings can be played back using QVR Pro Client. You can view the stored backup recordings with the same software used for surveillance monitoring, rather than using traditional file formats, making it easier to find specific date segments.
- What are the limitations of Vault?
In the beta version, it can only be installed on the QTS operating system. The official release will allow installation on QuTS hero.
In the official version, the following limitations will apply:
- Cannot be installed on the same host as QVR Pro / Elite
- Cannot be installed on QVP dedicated devices
- What can Vault back up, or which hosts can it back up?
According to the design, Vault 0.2.0 (current Beta) can back up recording files from QVR Pro/Elite 2.5, QVP dedicated devices 2.5, and TVR dedicated devices.
- Are there any practical application examples?
An internal collaboration case currently involves several chain stores, each equipped with a small-capacity QVP device (QVP-21C), which can store recordings from about three to five cameras, covering 0–14 days of footage.
At the main store, a NAS is installed with Recording Vault, which regularly and proactively backs up recordings from these QVP devices, set to store a total of 0–90 days of footage.
- For IT staff at the main store, there’s no need to log in to each branch’s QVP to set up backup schedules, making operations more convenient.
- Since branch devices don’t need to store footage for long periods, smaller models can be chosen, reducing overall costs.
- For managers, when retrieving data, simply logging into the Vault host allows access to all branches’ recordings from the past 90 days.
This approach also achieves offsite storage, preventing the loss of recordings due to single device failure.
The official version is currently undergoing long-term internal testing, mainly to verify stability across different hosts. If you encounter any usage issues, feel free to discuss them.
