I’m delighted to share QVR Surveillance with everyone here. This is not just a new version, but an integration and evolution of the original QVR Pro and QVR Elite, aimed at making surveillance deployment simpler, more practical, and more future-proof.
1. Why did we create QVR Surveillance?
In the past, whether for small offices, retail stores, or large-scale professional surveillance systems, QVR Pro and QVR Elite were widely used for their respective advantages.
Based on these valuable real-world experiences and user feedback, we decided to integrate and enhance the best features and powerful performance of both, creating a “third-generation” surveillance platform. This allows our product line to be more streamlined and clear, so both beginners and professional users can choose and deploy more easily.
2. Key Points of the Version Upgrade
Compared to QVR Elite
- Attachment supports snapshots: The recording attachment feature now supports snapshots, providing richer evidence and data management options.
- Easier central management: QVR Surveillance can be directly added to QVR Center for unified management without purchasing additional licenses, making the management of multiple NAS surveillance systems more centralized and efficient.
- More flexible licensing options: In addition to the original “subscription-based channel license,” a new “lifetime channel license” option has been added to meet the long-term needs of different users.
- Free channel giveaway: After installation, the system comes with 2 built-in channels, and an additional 6 channels are given upon online activation! A total of 8 camera channels can be used for free, which is great news for small-scale users.
Existing QVR Elite users can rest assured—upgrading to QVR Surveillance does not require data migration, and your existing licenses will be fully retained for a seamless upgrade!
3. Upgrade, Licensing, and Channel Policy
- Version upgrade: Based on the same system architecture, QVR Elite can be directly upgraded to QVR Surveillance and continue to be used. We plan to release a new version of QVR Pro with migration tools in Q1 2026, allowing camera settings and recording data to be transferred to QVR Surveillance.
- License continuity: As long as you have activated QVR Pro/Elite licenses on your NAS, the system will automatically recognize them after this upgrade, with no conversion required.
- Free channels: You need to bind your NAS to QID first. When you launch for the first time, an “Activate” prompt will appear for you to claim the channels. If you accidentally miss it, you can go to “…→Help→Feature Tour” to trigger it again. Once claimed, you can log out of QID or use it offline.
4. What are the benefits for you?
- More powerful and focused features: A large number of free channel expansions and attachment support for snapshots make surveillance deployment more flexible and intelligent.
- Seamless upgrade experience: QVR Elite users only need to update to upgrade seamlessly, with all data and settings fully retained.
- More transparent licensing: Channel licensing is more transparent, and the added value of free channels allows small and medium-sized users to easily enjoy more features.
- Superior scalability: Direct integration with QVR Center for centralized management, cloud backup support, and built-in AI analysis functions make it suitable for rapid growth from small to large-scale systems.
- Reduced complexity: Say goodbye to the previous Pro/Elite dual product lines—now one platform meets all surveillance needs, simplifying management and lowering the learning curve.
5. When do we recommend you adopt it?
- For existing QVR Elite users: If your environment is running stably, it is recommended to upgrade during off-peak hours to immediately enjoy the new features.
- For existing QVR Pro users: If you are planning further expansion or building a new system, we recommend waiting for the QVR Pro 2.8.x version to be released in Q1 2026. At that time, we will provide migration tools to help you smoothly transfer settings and recording data to the QVR Surveillance platform.
- For new surveillance system deployments: Without a doubt, starting directly with QVR Surveillance will save you future migration costs and let you enjoy the latest features right from the start!
