The card “QXP-1600eS-A1164” sees the drives in the TL-D1600S and supported the importing and use of prior ZFS raid arrays configured on a standard USB 3 JBOD. Everything works well except for the app used for firmware updates, JBOD manager 1.5.0 .Tech support appears to keep confusing the recent ASM1164 version of the QXP-1600eS-A1164, with the older, deprecated marvel QXP-1600eS which accessed the Storage Enclosure Services (ses) to talk to the TL-D1600S . ASM1164 doesn’t talk to marvel drivers.
If you have a standalone TL-D1600S, with a QXP-1600eS-A1164 controller, running on a Ubuntu 22.04.5 with a recent kernel (Linux 6.8.0-60-generic) please tell me device driver used to support Storage Enclosure Services (ses), and where to download it. The ahci driver handles the interface to the individual drives. But currently, it is not possible to update the TL-D1600S JBOD enclosure using the “ahci” driver.
Should I give up and get a LSI HBA variant that natively handles Storage Enclosure Services (ses)?
Sales guaranteed before purchase that the TL-D1600S could work reliably as a standalone system as a DAS. There is no QNAP NAS available on my network that could route updates via IPMI or iscsi.
Thanks in advance for your help.
