Is it possible to have 1 Raid 5 (from 3 HDDs) and separately 1 HDD on TS-453E?
I will use Raid 5 for important data and separate HDD for some temp files.
Yes, you can have a 3 disk RAID5 and a separate single disk volume.
What benefit do you get though from doing this? If you have 3 large drives and one smaller drive - I get it. But if they are all the same size, it’s probably better to create just one RAID 5 and be done with it. That way you have fault protection on all drives. You are going to lose the capacity of one drive anyhow.

I had thoughts, that Raid 5 is for 3 drives only. If it’s possible to put 4 in it - that’s great!
You can put a ton of drives in RAID5, so that assumption is wrong.

My First NAS has 4 Drives in RAID 5. I would put all 8 drives in RAID 5 but I don’t have 8 10TB drives. I have a second NAS with 6 8TB drives and they are all in a single RAID 5.
