Raid broken, how to restore backup

Hello forum,

I have a TS-x53Be with two HDD’s with Raid 1 (yes wouldn’t do it again as a backup server but I didn’t know back then). Now the Volume is unmounted and the check dialog doesn’t solve it either.
I made weekly Backups on an external drive, but this drive isn’t readable in windows and linux.
Also this is the second time of this happening, first time it was solved by turning the NAS of for some days ;-). Nothing works anymore, SSH, HBS App, etc, just the Web interface. I think the Raid is out of sync or something, but without logs I have no way of checking. So here are my questions:

  • How can I check whether the Backup is also corrupted?
  • Can I restore the Backup after resetting the Station? Because Apps don’t work (are they also saved on the HDD’s?) so I probably have to reset the Station before proceeding.
  • Can I restore the Backup with another config? As I mentioned, I want to remove the Raid.

Thanks so much in advance!
Robin

Best would be to read the drives with sofware like UFS Explorer (or plain Linux reader…depending what storage config was used in terms of Pools vs static) create a ackup and then start from scratch

No idea what unit you actually have, as you only gave an '‘x’
253,453,653

Then create backups on a universal usable file system e.g. NTFS…and of course no reason not to go with a RAID1+ again
