Raid is not rebuilding after replacing disk

I have a TS435Xeu. A disk failed and I replaced it.
After replacing the disk I expected that disk to enter “rebuilding raid” status. However in stead it sits there in “ready” status, and my volume remains in “degraded status”.
I cannot rebuild the raid by hand as there are no spare disk.

What should I do? Tech support so far has not been helpful.

What did tech support say? “Not helpful”, is not helpful.

Usually this is caused by either cold swapping the disk (the NAS was switched off for the disk swap instead of doing it hot)…or that more than one disk is faulty (not enough devices to rebuild)
