I have a TS-h973AX which has all my data in a 42TB RAID5 array that shows that storage pool as ‘Not Ready’. The pool consists of 5 12TB Ironwolf HDD’s in a RAID5 array. Uptime was about 1300 days before something caused the array to fail.
The operating system and apps are running on a 250GB RAID1 SSD array. This part is mostly fine. I say mostly because if I reboot the NAS with the HDD’s plugged in, the system will boot part way then hang with zero disk activity. If I reboot without the HDD’s, everything is normal. I then hotplug all the drives in, and they all come up with no errors.
Currently QNAP tech support has a connection to the NAS (for over a day now) but has made no changes. My limited research on this points toward a metadata issue with the RAID array, but no data loss (yet) if this can be fixed. I sure hope it can be fixed as I have a lot of data out there. Those 42TB serve as the iSCSI-based datastore for my VMWare LAN.
