RAM upgrade TS-473

Hello to all.

I have a TS-473 that currentlly has what I guess is the original 4gb of RAM (2 matching sticks) and another 16gb of RAM using 2 mismatched 8gb ram sticks. With thisRAM my NAS boots just fine, it’s just slow as Xmas.

I ordered a couple of sticks of RAM that meet all the requirements but NAS will not boot with this new RAM… I have tried booting with one of the 16gb sticks in each slot, of course I began with slot 1, but just as a test I tried each slot on its own. Also tried just slot 1 and 3, slot 1 and 2, slot 2 and 4… no dice on any configuration. Nor will it boot using the original 2 sticks of RAM in 1/3 and putting these in 2/4 the way it is now

RAM purchased: OWC 16GB DDR4 2666 PC4-21300 CL19 2R8 260 pin 1.2V Non-ECC SO-DIMM

NAS: TS-473
QTS: 5.2.4.3079

If it will not boot with the original RAM, you might have killed the NAS (e.g.ESD) or maybe just the RAM.

Try and see if the NAS boots into setup without any disks and just the original RAM

Sorry, I will edit the OP to make it clear that if I reinsert the RAM I bought it with then it boots up just fine.

My issue is with RAM compatability

QNAP units are notoriously picky when it comes to RAM, when the old forum works again ,check to see if you find working RAM topics for the TS-473

For NAS’s that use sodimm memory I only use PNY. 3200mhz pny can work as slow as 2666mhz if your system requires. https://www.pny.com/performance-ddr4-3200mhz-notebook-memory?sku=MN32GK2D43200-TB

Well, I gotta go lower than that. Mine is rated for 2400 and 2666, but probably gonna do 2400 for compatability
