I’m setting up my TS-673A and wanting to reduce the number of notifications I get. Initally I set up a rule in Notification Center where everything was selected with the rules global ‘Select All’ box checked and which notified me via email. This works and I get tons of notifications. I then edited the rule by unchecking the rules global ‘Select All’ and setting each items ‘Select All’ with a view to eventually being able refine notifications by selecting sub-items. This also works, ie I get the same deluge of notifications as before.
I then started to refine my notifications. The first thing I did was deselect all ‘App Center’ notification except ‘App Update’. When I applied this all notifcation appear to stop. When I look at the Notification Center event log I see a notification to do with this edit of the notification rule but in the history log there is no corresponding entry. More importantly Snapshot notifications have stopped.
I’ve searched the posts here for a clue but can’t see anything - I can’t believe this is a bug no one has seen before so I guess I am doing something wrong. Any clues on what to look for or places to investigate in the OS?
Firmware is 5.2.5.3145, Populated with 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB drives, 24GB RAM.
Hi Steve - thanks for your reply. I think you misunderstood the problem I am having. What I want to do is to refine notifications to a just a few sources by setting up a rule where I have selected just those that I want. What I have discovered is that when I try to do this by unchecking the items I don’t want in the rule all notifcations seem to get suppresed.
I used to be a Unix sys admin so I’ve comfortable grep’ing and awk’ing in a console window - can you point me to the config etc files associated with the Notification Center so that I can dig below the surface of the GUI?
So, just to clarify, when you uncheck “Select All” and only select specific notification items, are you finding that even those chosen specific items are not sending notifications?
If this is indeed the case, we’ll need to look into your specific operations and debug logs more closely. Would you be able to open a ticket with our Support Team so we can help you investigate this further?
Hi Steve - yes, your understanding is correct. If I deselect ‘Select All’ and then unselect items in say ‘App Center’ other notfication that used to get sent no longer happen.
Hi Steve - FYI, I have filed a support ticket but I’ve hit another problem. Doing some speed testing with Blackmagic over SMB my write speed has dropped to 18MB/s and read to 189MB/s with the 5.2.5.3145 release. I’ve had to downgrade to 5.1.9.2194 to get write speed back up to 226MB/s and read to 270MB/s.
If you’ve already opened a ticket with our Support Team, we highly recommend sharing this specific issue with them as well. They can provide more in-depth assistance, especially since performance is often heavily influenced by various environmental factors.
