Remote user can't access NAS?

I thought I did what I needed to so that my friend would be able to see the folder I created to share with them. However, that friend reports getting a timeout error in their browser when they try to use the link. I’m not sure if there are ports that need to be opened in my router maybe?

share link is an internal IP (wouldn’t work for external users)

make sure your never ever ever share your NAS via port forwards.

Yeah, use the smart share link with MyQNAPCloud. Then your friend can access your files and it’s all secure.
