Security Updates

Applied multiple security updates to further enhance system security.

Enhancement
Network & Virtual Switch

Improved the DHCP server creation and editing process. When creating a DHCP server, you can also set reserved IP addresses. It is now also possible to create a DHCP server when the adapter is using a DHCP IP address, although we still strongly recommend using a static IP address.
You can now directly set the DHCP IP address of a client device as a reserved IP address.
Adapter connection statuses are now displayed in "Network > Interfaces > Thunderbolt".

Storage & Snapshot

Updated Western Digital Device Analytics (WDDA) to version 8.70.5 for improved stability.

Fixed Issues

Resolved an unusual issue where some users experienced RAID group and shared folder errors after a firmware update.
Fixed an issue where ARM-based NAS models could not join a Windows Server 2025 domain.
Resolved a rare issue in the kernel-mode SMB daemon that caused the NAS to stop responding for some users.
Fixed a log message that displayed the wrong operating system.
Addressed a UI issue in the App Center settings window when the display language was set to French.
Fixed an issue in Control Panel where right-clicking an empty area would open a context menu with the "Create Shortcut" action.
Improved WebDAV transfer speeds.
Improved the login authentication mechanism on certain NAS models.
Fixed an issue where even though the QDA-A2AR adapter was already running the latest firmware, the system would still notify users that there was a newer firmware version available.
Fixed an issue where after restarting the NAS, the system would incorrectly indicate that port trunking groups were degraded.

Updated my TS-264.
The NAS and all Apps are running correctly.

Restarted the TS-451+ NAS. Upgraded the firmware from v5.2.3.3006 to v5.2.4.3070 manually via GUI. Everything runs smoothly.

Something seems wrong with roll out / recall of this for x74 models. have a tvs-h874 and yesterday notes included 474 and 674 (but not 874) which I thought strange. Today those appear to have been removed from list of affected models. Never saw firmware available for dl for 874 (didnot check 474 or 674). Guessing I looked at later stage of recall for these models. If you managed to find this .3070 for those x74’s, maybe hold on upgrade or pay more close attention.

I did this .3070 on a TS-453U-RP via manual dl and install via gui. Never came back from post install re-boot (lites on, no visibility to Finder or on win lan net devs). Forced 2nd re-boot and all came back fine.

Did hero flavor .3070 on a TS-873A via manual dl and gui install – came back fine from post upgrade reboot. No issues observed on either of these in this one day they’ve been up.

QNAP are well known to removing builds for certain models when they run into issues found by themselves or others. Problem is the silence of it all. No one is ever told of why, when or what to do next, if you upgrade to a new build, after QNAP remove the build for your model.

I would suggest raising a ticket with QNAP to find out why it is removed and what impact it has on you, if you are on the new build already.

QNAP have removing QTS 5.2.4.3070 for all nas from the Server.

Yeah, we’ve seen this happen many times. Generally I was an early adopter but now I think I will institute a 2 week “cool-off” period.

quote from QNAP Staff:

Firmware 5.2.4 may cause problems with DNS settings in the Virtual Switch (using a fixed IP).

After updating, if the user has no problem, there’s nothing to do.

If the user has a problem, he must open a support ticket.

Sinc updating 6 of 7 NAS’s to 5.2.4 3 of them including the one on 5.2.3 quit sending info to QCenter. The QCenter NAS was updated to 5.2.4. Fixed so far by deleting the non-responding ones from QCenter even though QCenter Agent still chowed connected. I then deleted Connect to QCenter and QCenter Agent from all 3 and reinstalled and reconnected. So far all working. Suspect the problem was on the updated to 5.2.4 QCenter NAS since both updated and the not updated NAS’s had issue.
