So, since the Ring Doorbell doesn’t work quite how I wanted, I’m thinking about getting rid of it and switching to a Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi instead.
According to their website, it’s supposed to be possible to integrate it with an FTP/NAS server.
Does anyone have experience with this? Link to the product is below.
Unfortunately, that only works to a limited extent. Since the doorbell always goes into standby mode, it only records when someone is in front of the doorbell.
The rest of the time, QNAP probably reports errors…
@HollyDay-Man To be completely transparent: Integrating battery-powered doorbells such as the Reolink Wi-Fi model is currently a technical challenge. Since these devices remain in standby mode to conserve battery and only send video streams when triggered (“push”), this conflicts with our NAS architecture, which continuously retrieves video streams (“pull”). Unfortunately, this often leads to connection errors.
Additionally, our QA team has received reports of compatibility issues with this specific model. While we don’t have the device in our lab at the moment, we will contact Reolink next Monday to request remote access for troubleshooting.
If you already own the doorbell, could you please let us know the firmware version of the device and the exact QNAP surveillance app (e.g., QVR Pro, QVR Elite) you are using?
