we have an TS-435XeU and bought 2 Samsung 990 Plus 2TB nvme. It is the correct model according to the compability list. However when installing them (or just one) the NAS is not booting. It will only make one beep.
I had a crucial p310 1tb lying around and when installing that one, the nas boots no problem. When installing the Samsung into a laptop, they get dectected no problem in the samsung magician software but show a newer firmware than the compability list (2B2QKXG7 instead of the 1B2QKXG7 mentioned in the compability list).
Is it likely that a firmware update will totally brick the compability of the M.2 ? It seems samsung also doesnt allow installing older firmwares on their drives. so backdating seems not an option.
What are my options here, do i need new m.2 drives? any help would be appreciated.
Support just came back, and basically said they are not compatible and i should have selected an SSD with the compatible firmware. I am unsure how I am supposed to find out the firmware of the SSD before buying, as this information is not readily availbe without installing them and using tools to find out. I specifically bought them according to the compability list which is frustrating but alas i have to buy two new 2TB m.2 ssds in hopes they are working.
I would ask to remove the SSD completely from the compability list, so atleast other people dont run in the same problems, because you cant downgrade the SSD and if an firmware upgrade can brick the ssd from operating with QNAP, i would not put them in the compability list
Hopefully it can be replicated and there is a solution
