Security Checkup: “The operation cannot be completed due to insufficient available storage space."

I have been using the Security Center app successfully until yesterday. When I run the Security Checkup I get a popup that says: “The operation cannot be completed due to insufficient available storage space. Go to “Storage & Snapshots” to free up space and retry the operation.” Is there a way to fix this so that I can complete a Security Checkup?
For the moment I have stopped (turned off) Security Center.
Thanks in advance.

My Qnap NAS info:

If you really want to keep this program have you tried the removal and reinstall of that app? (like advised to in my linked post)

Hi @geoQ

We apologize for the problem you’ve encountered. It appears to be caused by a recent update.
We are planning to release a new version this week to address this issue.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

A new version has been released, and updating to it should resolve this issue. Please update to the latest version at your earliest convenience.

If you encounter any further issues after updating, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Hi @SteveKo can you please confirm the version that fixes this?

The latest was released on 2025/06/04 (3.1.0.3617)

Hi this no longer gives an insufficient storage space error, and now just does not scan. Updated - uninstalled - rebooted etc.

Firmware - QTS 5.2.5.3145
Security Center Version - 3.1.0.3617

This does appear to be happening across the fleet as well.

Yes! The new version is 3.1.0.3617 (2025/6/4).

I have the same issue as Brodie, on my TS-231K (my TS-328 and TS-453Be seem to be fine). I start Security Check, it sits there at 0% complete for a few seconds, then quits with no indication of what’s wrong. Security Center and firmware are both at latest available versions. On a hunch, I did a file system check, which passed.

Hi @Brodie @bdipert ,
Would it be convenient for you to provide a screenshot or share more details about what you’re experiencing? Any additional information would be a great help.
Thanks!

See attached “before”, “during” and “after” screenshots. It “runs” (if you can call it that) for 7 seconds, always at 0% completion, before it quits. It indicates “not scanned yet” because I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Security Center in the process of trying to fix this, and existing scan logs apparently got wiped by the uninstall.

Any update for us, @SteveKo? Were my screenshots helpful?

Hi,

I have the same trouble on TS-231P.

  • Firmware: QTS 5.2.5.3145
  • Security Center: 3.1.0.3617

The Security Center App seems to have been rollebacked to 3.0.3.3481.

I saw the version number 3.1.0.3617 there couple of days ago.

The URL has been replaced with the image above.
Please check the App Center page of QNAP web.

Yes, we appreciate all your feedback! We’re planning to release a new version this week that should resolve this issue.

We’ll post another update here once the new version is out to let you all know. Thanks for your patience!

Regarding the security scan stop problem on TS-231P, the security scan was successfully completed today after the following steps:

  1. Stop the Security Center
  2. Delete the Security Center
  3. Reboot the NAS
  4. Install Security Center
  5. Start security scan

I don’t know what was wrong.

@user28 By uninstalling and then reinstalling Security Center, you actually installed the older version which QNAP has temporarily reinstated (and which is also working fine on my TS-231K). QNAP has yet to make available the new version that @SteveKo mentioned a few days ago. Any update, @SteveKo ?

Security Counselor version 3.1.0.3632 has been released. Please update to this version and give it a try.

Thanks!

SteveKo: The new version is finally working. Thanks for the update! I just updated over the old version. No need to remove the app, restart the NAS, and download the latest version of Security Center as mentioned in a previous post.
