Hello, i have a TS-453Be with QTS 5.2.4.3079, i know there is a new firmware but reading all the bad comments, i’m affraid to upgrade yet.
Anyways, last week, during a power failure, my UPS was running out faster than expected so i wanted to manually shutdown the server. unnable to login to my server with a computer, cause my wifi was down, i triyed to shutdown the server by pressing the power button for 4sec, but it did’nt shutdown… tryed to hold it longer… maybe 5 or 6 sec, then it shutdown hard… not by killing the services and shutdown smoothly, but shutdown as if i unplug it from the UPS.
Is there a way to shutdown properly with the power button?
Normally NAS units shut down controlled when the power button is pushed for 2 seconds (just did that on a TS-853BU a few weeks ago)

An option moving forward, plug your router into the same UPS as your NAS (or get a second UPS) so that you still have WiFi access during a power failure.
You should also take a look at the setting to perhaps set a shorter time window that the NAS is allowed to run before shutting down. Remember, it takes a while to shut it all down.
One thing that comes to mind, is the NAS going to protection mode or is the shutdown timer starting on powerloss?
Protection mode could behave differently on power button press (never tested it)
