Anyone has had network performance issues with the latest QuTS hero.
I upgraded to QuTS hero h5.2.5.3138 and the found that sending files to my TS-873A have reduced from 260-270MB/s down to 60-65MB/s.
I downgraded back down to h5.2.4.3079 and the network speed went back up to 260-270MB/s.
I haven’t change anything on the NAS or my PC. I’ts a direct connection from the PC to one of the 2.5Gb ports.
I have raised a ticket with Support and waiting for some information back from the tests I ran.
Just wandered if anyone else is having issues with QuTS hero h5.2.5.3138.
I’m having the same issue. Prior to the update I was getting up to 500MB/s, NAS to NAS. Now it is down to 30MB/s. I’m thinking about updating to TS-X88_20250530-h5.3.0.3145. It is listed as " release candidate"
I did the upgrade and found out Plex is not fully compatible now. My 1288 has 48GB RAM, 2x1TB M.2 SSD Cache, 8x16TB RAID5, 3x250GB SSD RAID5 system pool. My 1688 has 128GB RAM, 2x2TB M.2 SSD Cache, 9x16TB RAID6, 3x500GB SSD RAID5 system pool. Both are running Hero 5.3.0. I also have a TV-869 8x16TB RAID6. HBS one-way sync from the 1688 to the 869 nets 100MB/s. to the 1288 60MB/s regardless of the interface used. The RTTR Speed test on the 1688 to the 1288 via the 10GB cards yields 1GB/s but the transfer is only 60MB/s.
UPdate Okay so now I’m attempting to sync from the 869 to the 1288. Both ports on the 869 are bonded and still only 60MB/s. It has to be an issue with Hero, doesn’t it? The sync from the 1688 to the 869 earlier netted 100MB/s. With 70TB of video to transfer I’m in for a LONG wait.
UPdate 2 Okay so now I’m attempting to sync from the 1688 to the 1288 via the 2.5GB port. Now I only get 30MB/s. The HBS speed test was 290MB/s Haven’t I eliminated hardware issues? It has to be an issue with Hero, on the 1288, doesn’t it? The sync from the 1688 to the 869 earlier netted 100MB/s. and it only has 1Gb port. I am open to suggestions. At this rate I figure about a month to transfer my library.
I am about to move from synology to QNAP TS-873A and having exactly the same issue on QuTS hero 5.2.5.
The transfer speeds (NFS/CIFS) from synology to qnap are about 45-50MB/s (per port) regardless of the raid-type, compression or deduplication.
Have also already tested point-to-point transfer speeds (from my desktop to qnap).
Retrieving files from qnap tops at about 150MB/s.
Any clue what the reason could be?
We’ll be conducting internal tests to verify the performance differences you’re experiencing.
Since transfer speeds can vary significantly based on the actual environment, there’s a lot that can influence them. So, if we need any further information from your end, we’ll reach out and appreciate your help then.
I’ve got an update from QNAP.
They have have verified the issue, and it seems to be happening on specific models.
The workaround is to continue on 5.2.4 until they release a revised version.
@NAS-JIM - you mentioned the upgrade is not fully compatible with Plex now? Can you elaborate on that? I have a TS-h1887XU-RP and I have a number of remote Plex users I wouldn’t want to disappoint.
