Small Qfinder Pro feature request – status column with traffic lights

Hey everyone,

This might sound like a small thing, but for those of us with slower NAS boxes (or ones that take ages to boot), I think this would be a really handy addition to Qfinder Pro.

Right now, as you can see in the screenshot, Qfinder shows the NAS as soon as it responds on the network. But that doesn’t mean it’s actually ready to use. On my TS-233, for example, it takes a while to fully start up – it shows up in the list long before the services are actually up and running.

What I’m suggesting is adding a simple “Status” column with a traffic light-style indicator:

  • :green_circle: Green – fully operational, all services running

  • :yellow_circle: Yellow – still booting or services starting up (responds to ping but not fully ready)

  • :red_circle: Red – some critical service failed or device is unresponsive

  • :white_circle: Empty/grey circle – offline or not reachable on the network

That way you can tell at a glance if you can actually connect, if you need to wait a bit longer, or if something’s gone wrong – without having to keep opening the web interface to check. For anyone managing multiple NAS devices or doing frequent reboots, it’d save a bunch of pointless clicks.

My setup:

  • Model: TS-233

  • QTS: 5.2.9.3451

  • Qfinder Pro: 7.13.3

Anyone else think this would be useful? Hopefully the QNAP team might consider it for a future release.

If you use HBS on all your NAS’s, you can use this: Hybrid Backup Center

Choose NAS on the side menu. A green dot shows the NAS is ready. Grey dot, not ready.

Ah, good shout, I actually use HBS and I’ve seen that green/grey dot indicator in the Hybrid Backup Center. It’s handy for sure.

But yeah, my request is more about having that visibility directly in Qfinder Pro, without having to open another app. Sometimes I just want to quickly scan which NAS devices are fully up and running before I even log into anything. HBS is great for backup management, but Qfinder is usually the first thing I open when I’m working with multiple NAS boxes.

Think of it as a quick “health check” at a glance, right from the discovery tool. Would save a few extra clicks when you’re just trying to see what’s actually ready to use.

Still, appreciate the tip, didn’t know HBS had that view, so that’s useful for when I’m already in there
