SMB kernel mode not available on ARM platforms

,

Hello,

I noticed that SMB Kernel mode is not available on ARM Nas, and I don’t get why. It would be useful to speed up things, maybe better share the load between cores, etc.

I talked about it there months ago : https://www.reddit.com/r/qnap/comments/1k15tbi/smb_multichannel_and_rss/

For the record, I checked, and it’s not a bug, since in the smb.sh, we can read :

#ksmbd setting.

if [ “x`uname -m`” != “xx86_64” ]; then /sbin/setcfg Samba ksmbd “FALSE”

I have tried to change this to TRUE :slight_smile:

If support can do something about it …

Thx you :slight_smile:

Our apologies, but our ARM platform does not currently support Samba ksmbd. Even if you change the setting from “FALSE” to “TRUE,” it will unfortunately not work.

Thx you for the answer.

Is it on the roadmap ?

I’ll forward this request to our internal team, but I believe the development team likely had specific reasons for this limitation, which may have included considering various factors like CPU performance.

Because of this, I can’t guarantee whether it’s on the roadmap.

Regardless, thanks for your valuable feedback and suggestion!
