SMB Service 4.15.003 BUG (SMB Lockouts)

Hi guys, Since updating to SMB Service 4.15.003, I’ve been experiencing constant samba lock outs ever since when trying to access my shared drives and that is with all security measures switched off for testing purposes.

I installed the update for SMB Service to 4.15.003 09/09/2005
I’m currently on firmware version QTS 5.2.6.3229 18/08/2025

I had a search online using ChatGPT to see if anyone else had been experiencing lockouts using SMB version 4.14.003 and this is what ChatGPT reported back:

So I was planning on trying to work out where to download the previous version of SMB 4.15.002 and give that a go, any ideas where the official archive is for older files from QNAP?

Sounds like AI slop hallucination to me, AI just made up the “many users having issues” on the spot.

I do not know of any mass issues with any SMB version (English forum, German forum, reddit). So unclear where ChatGPT has that info from.

Your best bet is to open a service ticket with QNAP.

That could be so, so I can’t dispute that, so fair comment.

Either way, as the problem did immediately start when upgrading to 4.15.003, I would appreciate if if someone could simply point me in the right direction to download version 4.15.002 so I can manually install that and test the outcome.

Why last resort? The QNAP support team is quote helpful for stuff like this.

I guess everyone’s experience is slightly different. I’ve personally been using QNAPs for two decades and I’ve equally had some not so useful experiences via them to be honest.

On another note, how come’s we have to wait for posts to be authorised now days. :roll_eyes:

I’m new to QNAPs new forum but I was on the prior one for just over 17 years, I’m not a newbie. :grin:

We had (and still have) lots of spambots, so we moderate all posts from users the forum software deems ‘new’. To avoid spam.

A new version of SMB service 4.15.004 is just on line…
I’ve just installed it now.

I installed 4.15.004 this morning and I too am still having random users getting the share disconnected. Windows File Manager is open with multiple tabs open with different folders from the same share. Randomly, the focused tab, or last worked in will disappear, but the others don’t. I can’t believe Qnap has not fixed this major bug yet.
