Hello, Here in the UK I have subscribed to a broadband provided for many years. Most recently they advised me of an increase in my monthly subscription. The increase is because my account has always had a static IP, never requested and unaware it was there. My options is to pay the increase or have the static IP removed and become dynamic. I am reluctant to have it removed because I occasionally use mobile apps QMusic, QfilePro and MyQNAPcloud which are working. My concern is changing the BB router IP to dynamic while see their access stop. Happy to be corrected?
If you are using the apps by connecting directly to your NAS, that’s a problem due to security and having your NAS exposed to the WAN (internet). If you are using the NAS_NAME.myqnapcloud.com option to connect then you are fine. You will have no issue being able to continue to use your apps. I have a dynamic IP with my setup and never have a problem connecting.
You can also use a VPN to connect to your NAS and that can be set up multiple ways so that a dynamic IP is not a problem. You can easily set up dynamic DNS so that your NAS is always mapped to your current IP.
Just please don’t expose your NAS to the internet but use either myqnapcloud or a VPN.

HOST/IP or myQNAPcloud name
I have myQNAPcloud device name entered then my UserName / Password used to login onto NAS. Im assuming the NAS_NAME is the myQNAPcloud device name ? when logged into myQNAPcloud account I am only offered a smart URL link. If used it takes me to my NAS home page. I must confess I struggle to get to grips with remote NAS access ( using my mobile app outside of my home network, rarely done ) Thanks again for your advice. Every little helps.
So if you are using the MyQNAPCloud name and logging in that way, then you are fine. You don’t need to pay for a static IP address.
With the MyQNAPCloud login, what you are doing is logging into QNAP’s servers in Taiwan. They have a connection established already with your NAS. So you can log into your NAS from anywhere.
