Storage pool numbering... niggle

QTS 5.2.8.3410 on a TVS-672XT

I’m playing around with storage groups, iSCSI, etc with a view to finding the optimum setup for my use case. Part of that “playing around” involved trying different ways of configuring storage pools. Today I started configuring a RAID 6 Storage pool (Storage Pool 2) and then cancelled out after hitting the go button (for the life of me I can’t remember exactly where in the process - I wasn’t paying attention). Now when I go to create a new storage pool, it creates Storage Pool 3. There is no Storage Pool 2 in the list of Storage space and the disks that I had selected before are all available. I have created and deleted Storage Pools before and It always used the next number in the sequence.

I’m curious as to what’s going on. What has happened to Storage Pool 2 (or at least the label “Storage Pool 2”).It’s (probably) a totally harmless phenomena (I hesitate to call it a bug or feature). but my brain won’t let it go… I like nice neat orderly sequences.

Is there a conf file somewhere that can be edited to restore the sequence?

I’ve tried erasing the disks n question (partition erase), but still it persists…

I just deleted all my Storage Pools (including the internal M2 SSD mirror). On rebooting I got this so Storage Pool 2 still lives on somewhere…

Thanks for the report! I’ll have the relevant team look into this.

If you don’t mind, could you follow this FAQ to export the relevant files and send them to me via private message? Our team was unable to reproduce this issue on our end, so the files would help us analyze the cause. Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I’ve generated the log files, but can’t seem to find a way to attach them via private message (or even send a private message - lack of account privilege?). I’ve put them in a google folder. Please provide me with a way to share the link with you privately.

Hi Paul, I’ve just bumped you up an account level. Can you send a PM now?

Thank you. Yes I can. Message sent.
