Hello everyone
‘Disk Health’, ‘Raid Scrubbing’ and ‘Auto Reclaim & SSD Trim’ schedulers, as far as I can see, offer Daily/Weekly/Monthly options.
Our use case: we have 3 NAS machines. Completing Raid Scrubbing on two of them requires approx. 15 hours, but on the third one it takes almost 80 hrs, so more than 3 days. Scrubbing priority is set to Default (tried both Service First and Resync First and haven’t noticed significant difference in required time, but the system response was noticeably affected with latter). So I’m trying to do this over the weekend, as much as possible. Scrubbing is done once a month.
Also, all 3 of them are configured to restart once a week, on Sunday early morning.
So, every month I have to (re)set scrubbing to the last Friday, one hour after business hours and disable or move for 1 week power schedule for the third unit. It’s not that big of deal, I know, but sometimes it gets forgotten or missed.
It would be of great help if Raid scrubbing scheduler would support option like described above. For example:
On every 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th weekend of the month starting Friday on xx o’clock
Also, option “Postpone scheduled restart/shutdown when a replication job is in progress” in Power Schedule could become “Postpone scheduled restart/shutdown when a replication and/or disk health jobs are in progress”
Disk Health and Auto Reclaim & SSD Trim are not as much time consuming as Raid scrubbing, so it is not that important for these operations. Although it wouldn’t be bad to have this kind of flexibility for their scheduling as well.
Regards
