Suddenly cannot connect with DDG but I can with Safari. I cleared the DDG browser data for that tab but still no luck. Any ideas?
Are we talking about a local LAN connection? CloudLink remote?
Local LAN Access. I use https://xyz.myqnapcloud.com:8081/cgi-bin/ but stopped working today on DDG.
If you can connect with Safari but not DuckDuckGo, then that’s a DDG browser issue. Clear your cache and history and try again.
Also, from your LAN, I would not use a myqnapcloud connection. That will be extremely slow as it goes out from your network to the internet, through QNAP’s infrastructure and back to your LAN. Just connect directly to your local IP address of your NAS.
I did the CERT because modern web browsers cause problems with unsecure links and complain. It was very fast when working. The remote link (for when outside my home) is slow.
I never have an issue with a browser complaining that I am not connecting to my NAS via https. Never had an issue.
Are you on the Apple platform? I think it is an Apple thing to make sure everything is secure. I cleared All Data and still no luck on DDG.
Yup. I use a Mac for 99% of my work. And NEVER use a secure connection on my LAN to my NAS.
Strange that this happened shortly after updating to Golden Gate 27.2
So what happens when you use your internal IP and not the cloud address in your browser ?
Well, it’s likely an issue in MacOS then. Apple’s initial updates to their OS are awful. I wait months until I upgrade or even more than a year.
On DDG the local ip address gives the same message: DuckDuckGo can’t load this page. Could not connect to the server. On Safari it just warned me the link was insecure with the option to proceed. Just updated DDG again (this one updated in place with no restart!). Still an issue. Maybe DDG and Apple are banging heads.
So there’s an effort to enforce certificate compliance on local networks. Certainly needed somewhat in corporate spaces, but it is silly on home LANs. The only “security” an SSL link creates is the link itself is encrypted.
But so far I have not seen Apple restrict unsecure connections on the LAN. What happens if you attempt to connect to your NAS on port 8080 using http:// with DDG?
