TR-002 A connectivity to TS119PII

New system to be as follows:

QNAP TS-453E NAS to be connected via USB-C to a QNAP TR-002 A, 2- Bay USB Type-C Direct Attached Storage (DAS) unit. I plan to install two Seagate Iron Wolf (or Iron Wolf Pro) 16TB drives in each of these devices and configure both as RAID-1’s.

Questions:

Q1. Can I connect the USB-C port on the new QNAP TR-002 A to the USB 3 (version 3.1?) port on my current TS-119 PII so that I can transfer/copy the data (at USB transfer rate instead of network transfer rate) from the TS119PII to the new QNAP TR-002 A?

Q2. If connected as described in Q1, can I also transfer/copy the data from an external drive connected to the eSATA port on the TS-119 PII, through the TS-119 PII, onto the TR-002 A (without first copying the data onto the TS-119 PII?

Or

Do I have to first copy the data from the eSATA connected external drive onto the TS-119 PII, then copy the data from the TS-119 PII onto the TR-002 A?

Notes:

1. After copying all of the data onto the TR-002 A, I would copy the data via a USB-C connection from the TR-002 A to the TS-453E NAS.so that I can begin using the NAS.

2. I would continue to use the TR-002 A for automated/scheduled backups of the TS-453E.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The final firmware available for the TS-119PII is QTS 4.3.3

The TR-002 can only be connected to a QNAP NAS with at-least QTS 4.3.6. So, you won’t be able to use it on the old NAS. Should be fine with the new one.

Thank you!
