TR-004 RAID Set up - Challenges

I plugged in 4 disks and see them, getting the unit up and running, but there seems to be an extreme lack of documentation, or support videos. QNAP videos show a different Disk Manager, and 3rd party videos use a different version too. not impressed.

Currently it is stuck in JBOD - You CANNOT delete disks in QNAP External RAID Manager. Disk Manager step 1 Mode - is missing all button indications, assume that means push them to the down position… However, all dips in RAD JBOD, Individual are called out.

I would point out Raid 5 with 4 - 4TB drives is approximately 12TB.

QNAP says you can erase disks by selecting the option from a drop down. Apparently NOT available in the TR-004.

There is no user manual to download on the QNAP site. They offer a repair manual, however, the TR- series is NOT listed in the Manual. Nor does it cover a RAID management\setup, which I get it is a repair manual. BUT WHERE IS THE FULL USER SETUP???

the user guide is on the page you posted.

TR-00x User Guide

TR-004 Quick Installation Guide

External RAID Device Software User Guide

there is also a utlity here: TR-004 - Download Center | QNAP

Thanks, I guess I didn’t see it given the lack of organization of the page.

Just saying…

Looking at the USER Guide I seem to be missing something - 1) can’t delete current config. Manual is wrong, or I am missing something. 2) Still can’t get a Raid 5 to show up.

No RAID

The user guide does NOT appear to walk you through setting up a hardware raid either, only software raid. So am I missing that, or is the user guide incomplete?
Per the screen shot below, it sounds like I should see the RAID 5, but it still reads JBOD. Please advise.

Does your browser show the language drop down menus? That’s what I used. Selected English and then it only showed the guides that matter.

So to you issue with not seeing certain features. Are you using any ad blocking add-on in you browser perhaps or the menu was designed for a different firmware. Either way contact Tech support by raising a ticket and see what they can suggest.
