I purchased a TR004 last year for DAS and using it as RAID5 with QNAP External RAID Manager. I have had problems with the the the hard drives (Seagate Iron Wolf Pro 10TB) - they keep on rebuilding. Only drive 3 & 4. It may be ok for a month or two and then recurs. All purchased from QNAP in Australia. The RAID manager software however tells me all disks are ok (Good) even while a disk is rebuilding (the only way I can see it is rebuilding is the rapidly flashing green light above HDD and flashing red light. This has become very frustrating. I am going to have to replace the disks at $450 a pop. Can one hot swap them or must the unit be turned off prior to inserting the new HDD and rebuilding a new HDD ? I know in my QNAS one hot swaps them out - but can’t find out if this is possible on the DAS.
TR units are hotswap capable too
