TS-201 drive issues

I have a TS-201 with a mirrored RAID configuration that is now not accessible. The blue power light is on, the network light is flickering and the dsic 1 and 2 lights are showing activity. There is also a red error light flashing about every second. I am able access the unit via a browser and I see the following on the Network Share Management tab.
Warning

Your disk volume is being formatted or checked. Please wait for the completion of formatting or checking, or go to the SATA Disk page to initialize the disk.”

On the event logs I get the following

Information System started. 01/03/2026 23:29:03
Information Drive 2 plugged in. 01/03/2026 23:29:31

There was another error showing about drive 1 but that has now disappeared.

Is it best to leave this running (it’s been at least 8 hours and probably longer) or should I stop it to check the discs individually.

thanks Sean

That is a 20 year old NAS, I hope you have backups of your data

In the end I shut down the NAS and checked the drives on a Windows PC using Ext2 Volume Manger to read the drives. Drive 1 was fine and I’ve copied it using Hasleo Disk Clone . . .when I connected drive 2 the PC wouldn’t boot so that clearly was the problem.

Hi, since this is an older legacy model, we’d like to better understand your goal so we can provide the right advice.

Are you looking to keep the device operational for continued use, or is your main priority to migrate/copy your data off of it?

Knowing this will help us guide you through the best next steps. Thanks!
