TS 264 refuses to install various apps in the App Store

Hi everyone,

As a newbie here in the forum, I’m feeling pretty helpless.

I’m using the TS 264 as a replacement for my TS 219 P. The configuration of RAID 1 and the migration of the old drives happened automatically without any problems.

However, for further setup, I need to install the Notification Center, Malware Remover, and other services, as well as reinitialize Hybrid Backup.

But I keep getting error messages during installation saying that I need to update to at least QTS 4.8 or higher than 5.2.

However, the TS 264 is already using the latest firmware.

I’m a bit overwhelmed now. Restarting didn’t help.

Is it because of the old drives and their integration from the old TS 219P?

But I had already updated it to its latest version before swapping.

Does anyone have an idea what I can do now?

The TS 219P doesn’t install a higher version…

I’d be very grateful for any tips.

Best regards,
Joe

Were the drives adopted as they were, or were they wiped beforehand? If they were adopted, a crippled legacy volume was created. So, set up the NAS completely anew with wiped drives!

Okay, so that means backing up the data externally and then starting everything from scratch…

Afterwards, restore the data…

Thank you.

Yes, and then start creating regular backups—a RAID is not a backup… a painful lesson for many.

Yeah, sure, I used to do a full backup daily with the TS 219P and Hybrid Backup.

Unfortunately, the external drive gave up the ghost with a crash on the read head…

That’s why a RAID 1 is at least a fallback level.

The TS 264 will now get 2 x 6TB WD Red Plus and then the data from the 219 will be copied over and that’ll be it…

I’m glad to always have multiple fallback levels. It’s no different on the PC, a PC-side backup on an internal third drive and an external full backup drive.

I can’t really complain, the TS 219P with the Samsung NAS HDDs from the 103 series lasted 15.5 years, they’re still running! But it’s too risky!

As you can see, you can’t even think of all the ways things can go wrong.

Thanks to all of you for the input.

I’ll go ahead and set up the whole mess again. The backup is already done…

Wishing you a nice evening!

Regards, Joe
