Need to check some settings in the BIOS after replacing older 3TB drives with new 6TB ones. Also want to double check my boot device order if I ever need to boot from a USB stick.
Hooked up a HDMI monitor and tried both an Apple and Logitech USB keyboard. When I start the NAS, there is no BIOS splash screen - it goes straight to “starting” and then the Linux startup screen comes up as it loads, then the nicer graphic version after it’s done.
How can I access the BIOS?
The system has been working flawlessly, no problem there, just surprised that this specific thing should be so difficult.
What needs to be documented (found it on Reddit of all places) is that you need to use a Windows keyboard - Mac keyboards will not work, oddly enough.
Found the BIOS, dated 2015. I thought that the firmware upgrades automatically included the BIOS, but it seems not. Is there a way to update it manually, separate from the firmware?
Firmware (QTS/QuTS) does not include Bios updates. Bios can be upgraded, however there is very little change in user experience (if any) and Bios Updates are very rarely released to the public by QNAP, unless a serious issue has been found, or you have an early release of a NAS.
