I have a TS-453a and I absolutely love it. I was even able to get running it with16 Gbs of RAM recently. I am a fan of the ecosystem and the overall design of the devices. I am looking at refresh sometime in the next year or two and all the posts and threads I have read indicate that Qnap is abandoning the prosumer market and the TS-464 is probably the last of the devices we will see like it. Is this true? Has Qnas quietly confirmed this?
I have seen no such rumours, so state your sources please.
QNAP released some China only devices last year, no official word so far if/when these or similar devices would hit the rest of the world
Nas compares had an article about it from October:
https://nascompares.com/2025/10/20/where-is-qnap-right-now/
Also, their shift to focusing on enterprise AI and surviellance, as well as not realeasing new models or refreshes outside of China in a time frame has left speculation they may be quietly shifting focus from the prosumer market.
Just one speculative article is no more than a side note.
I still get a ton of press releases and marketing emails from QNAP aimed at SMB customers. And to be fair, for a simple NAS (and most consumers use their QNAP products a simple NAS) a Celeron processor is just fine. So unless intel discontinues a processor for a given BOM, I guess there is not much pressure to update the lineup for consumers.
