TS-659 PRO II reset problem

Hello, I have a problem, so I joined the community.
I am Korean and this article may not be able to understand well what was written using a translator.

Here’s the problem.

I connected a known-good hard disk, but there was an error that there was no hard disk.

It has since been restored and connected by the OS after replacing the dom and downgrading the firmware.

However, the existing raid5 was not deleted in the undefind state, so while trying various methods, the entire hard disk was reset and there is an error that there is no hard disk again.

So, I’m curious about

  1. Is there any way to reinstall qnapos or reset Linux?
  2. The raid can’t be deleted, what should I do?
  3. I’m initializing the hard disk by connecting it to windows, do I need to create a separate partition like ext4?

I can’t find a way, so I’m leaving a post.
Is it possible to do factory reset in ssh?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the dedicated community.

Hello,

I think it is not so easy to understand the issue.
It may be best to post the original message alongside.

That said, if you want to re-initialize the NAS and delete all data on disks:

  • Start the NAS without any HDD
  • Insert all the HDDs
  • Connect to the NAS via web browser
  • Choose to initialize.
Note that all data on the HDDs will be deleted.

Use diskpart with flag “clean” for each drive, that should remove all partitions

Could you please provide some screenshots of the relevant system pages? More complete information will help us better assist you based on your situation. Thanks!

Hello, community engineers.

This issue is resolved and leaves a solution.

  1. I connected the problematic abnormal hdd and even completed booting.
Afterwards, qnap started automatic recovery, removing the abnormal hdd, and replacing the abnormal hard with a known-good hard.

After that, we proceeded with the factory reset and confirmed that the hdd is connected normally.

If anyone is struggling with that problem, I recommend you to make one extra hdd.

Yes) Install 1,2,3,4 hdd → Replace 1 hdd → Store 1 hdd extra

I would like to sincerely thank the community for their help to the stranger in faraway Korea.
