My TS364 required a reset following a Security Center issue. Following this, both Qfinder and NAS ask for PW, but will not recognise any previously established PW I enter. As such, I’m completely locked out of my NAS and the Qfinder. I initiated a factory reset using the pin button on the rear of the NAS, this gave me the same result. Everything keeps asking for PW which it does not recognise. There is no Admin option on this model either. I want to re-initialise the NAS as if from new in order to create new Volumes on the pool. Help would be most appreciated, otherwise it’s an expensive shelf ornament!
3 second reset will renable the admin account, the password will be set according to your installed firmware version

The link posted above to reset the password should work for you, but if you want to proceed “fresh”, then put your drives into a PC or Mac and use a USB dock (or similar) to simply delete the partitions. You can then power up the NAS and follow the standard directions to start from scratch.
For a fresh start, it is not always need to kill all partitions from PC in advance.
What we can do is:
- Remove drives from NAS.
- Power on NAS without drives, and wait it boot finish. It should appear in Qfinder as a fresh device.
- Access its IP by browser, in this case you do not need to input any password, when it shows quick installation wizard, plug the drives back to NAS.
- During the initial process, it will detect the drives are used in previous system, but provide an option to wipe these drives from NAS.
- After wipe, the initial will continue.
Agreed, but it ensures that nothing on the drives confuses the fresh startup. It isn’t “always” required, but it avoids issues, particularly for novice users.
It’s much harder to do all the juggling of drives between different machines for novice users. If you boot the NAS w/o the drives as @HanzSung suggested, it is not possible for the NAS to get confused about drives after you insert them.
I disagree. I’ve seen issues with drives with existing partitions.
I stand by this as being a valid option and can in fact resolve some issues. It isn’t the ONLY option.
As an aside, there are many posts where people format drives first then insert them, a completely different issue, which I feel is indeed a waste of time.
What is the current status? Has the issue been resolved? Thanks!

What is the default system administrator password for my NAS? | QNAP
Yep, all Done. The solution was use ‘admin’ as user and then the ‘cloud key’, which is on a label under the box, as the PW. It seems that ‘admin’ ‘admin’ as user and PW, or ‘admin’ + MAC1 are only for specific devices. Tx to QNAP for helping me through this, and suggestions from the forum. Cheer all.
Nope..read my link I posted above, it depends on the used firmware version.
