Agree, OP might be describing a RAID sync… if only they would start answering questions. ![]()
Waiting for the NAS to boot up to obtain the info you requested
As I already said, I’m not asking about the NAS. You have attached a qsync tag to your OP, so I’m asking about the device you connect to the NAS from. At this point, the NAS - and what it has to say - are not important.
Power failure-drives resyncing; you can’t stop that.
Sorry I did not respond back yesterday I ran out of allowed responses and had to leave you in limbo…lame.
Qsync wasn’t the right category, and it caused confusion; it certainly did not warrant a Qnap customer being called a troll.
Thank you, Franklin, for your professionalism in solving my problem.
I’ll let synchronizing run and hope I can recover the data I deleted.
This is a user forum, if you cannot handle the tone, maybe
- Explain your issue in full and not be vague with one word answers.
- Maybe not have a profile pic that looks like a joke account.
- A username with “bait” in the name certainly does not help either.
- Having a pouty attitude after giving tons of false info and misleading/incomplete replies instead
A balanced response to this (or silent acknowledgement) will enable a continued participation on this forum.
Btw, regarding the issue, you said you had missing files you had to restore(or were worried about them disappearing for some reason) A RAID resync after a power failure, should NOT result in missing or disappearing files). And you have backups just in case..right?
You can check the Network Recycle Bin to see if your deleted files are there (provided it hasn’t been disabled or emptied).
If this is an urgent matter, please open a support ticket with us so our support team can assist you further. Thanks!

I don’t know where to start, but calling a QNAP customer a troll may not be what #TeddyKuo had in mind when he linked the QNAP Community to his website. I would have preferred being told to enter the proper info before we can continue. Calling me a troll doesn’t inspire me to purchase a new NAS from QNAP, and the TS-664 has a lifespan.
Please allow me to start from the beginning.
I deleted a folder and needed to recover it. I noticed the NAS was synchronizing and wanted to turn it off. Queries for help kept leading me to the Qsync app, and as we now know, it was the wrong place. So I turned the NAS off to stop overwriting the data I deleted.
I went to the QNAP site but was not allowed to start a ticket because they had mandatory questions I could not answer without starting the NAS, so I found the link to the QNAP community.
I picked the Qsync category because the help files kept directing me to the Qsync app, and I thought I was missing something and just needed to ask for help. I was wrong to choose the Qsync category; it caused confusion. You called me a troll because I was vague (Item one in your assessment of me) in my answers, but we know because it was a hard reset, my two short answers were 100% correct (The NAS is syncing itself? & The NAS). I responded to the negative troll remark by saying, Seriously!!! If you don’t want to help, that’s fine.
Number two is me with my Halloween Groucho glasses. You have an obscene version of Micky Mouse?
Number three is my favorite. The handle Snakebait was given to me at the age of twenty-two (no computers); I am seventy-eight. Any chance my handle is older than yours?
Number four is moot.
I think QNAP has policies against constant negative interactions with its customers. The main reason for these policies is that your attitude will cause customers to abandon QNAP products, and I don’t think #IEI Integration Corp will appreciate that.
I’m not sure if this is balanced the way you like it, but I admit my mistakes caused confusion. I will not accept being labeled a troll in the QNAP community. I expect an apology.
The statement, “This is a user forum, if you cannot handle the tone, maybe,” I don’t like being labled a troll.
Last but not least, the veiled threat to silence me: “silent acknowledgement will enable continued participation on this forum”. Anyway, the ball is in your court.

So when the RAID array is synchronizing, you won’t lose any data. This process is making sure that the array of drives has all the data in the right places. Your deleted folder is likely in the recycle bin. You can just go there and recover it. If you permanently deleted it, then the only chance of recovering it (AFAIK) is if you have a snapshot (or a backup) of your folder.
As for being called a Troll - it happens sometimes. @dolbyman is exceptionally helpful to many users. At the same time, when any of us ask questions, we really need answers to those questions and information. If we don’t have that, then we can’t help and our “assumptions” start to kick in…
User silenced for one month..next time it will be a ban
You were warned
Not sure why you are being so harsh with him. Yes, he has been somewhat obnoxious with how he responded, but at the same time, you did call him a potential troll.
I would vote to give him a 2nd chance.
OP has been given a second chance.
In the meantime, they’ve also been given 4 weeks to consider adopting a more amenable approach to community volunteers trying to assist them.
Have had users like that in the past, they are beeing combative with self proclaimed righteous indignation.
Name calling the Co-Founder of QNAP plus unrelated rants about unjustified negative attitudes and for no reason at all, calling my “Runaway Brain” Mickey avatar “obscene”.
List goes on…if the user decides to come back after 4 weeks and participates in normal constructive conversation, where asked questions are actually answered, they can return
