I have two TS-216G (QTS 5.2.9.3410 Build 20260214)
and two shared folders synchronised from NAS A to NAS B
NAS A is at the office. NAS B is at home.
I’d like to be able to work from home on NAS B, with the data updating instantly on NAS A while still maintaining the once-daily synchronization from NAS A to NAS B.
I’m wondering if the instant synchronization from NAS B to NAS A might cause a problem with the evening synchronization from NAS A to NAS B (a sort of loop…).
If this solution were to work, what would be the best configuration to set up on NAS B for instant data synchronization with NAS A?
1.) You set up a Two-Way sync in HBS. Just let that run and keep things synchronized between the two NAS units (preferably over a VPN as exposing a NAS to the internet is a bad idea).
2.) Use Hybrid Mount to Mount NAS A on NAS B. This will allow NAS A to show up as a volume on NAS B with commonly used files cached on NAS B.
The other thing to think about is do you really want a sync each day from NAS A to NAS B or do you want a Backup of NAS A to NAS B?
I have mine going to a WebDav drive. But you could set one up between your NAS units. But let me repeat myself from before: NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER expose either of your units to the Internet. So please use a VPN when doing this.
