Twonky server stopping regularly on its own after latest update

Hi all,

I have to stop then restart the Twonky Server quit often after the latest update because somehow I can not connect to it anymore, the web interface is also not reachable and it seems the service freezed or stopped completely.

I have no problems with another UPNP Server (MinimServer)

TS-253D, QTS 5.2.9.3410

Has anyone faced the same problem as me?

Best regards

Can you please provide more details on your setup? Are you running Containers, etc.

My guess is the native qpkg

Twonky 8.5.2 (bottom)

All these QNAP qpkg’s are ancient, maybe some dependency is finally bust.

Using a container could be a good idea though to keep it going
Random google

Yep. Hence my question. I generally don’t like to Ass-U-Me

I thought someone posted sometime back about Twonky that it is not supported any more but maybe that’s wrong…

Twonky provided from QNAP itself via App Center with a QNAP Twonky licence not the Lynx licence.

Best to talk to QNAP via ticket, with the QNAP license, you might be SOL (if the QPKG stops working)

If you have extensive multimedia requirements, you might also consider using Plex.

Only a small film collection. I use Nova Player on an Android TV box playing files from QNAP. But Twonky had problems with high bitrate UHD remuxes anyway. I disabled Twonky now and use WebDAV which plays fine without stuttering. Nova Player doing all the fancy stuff getting film infos from TMBD etc. Plex seems to be a little overkill for my use case.

Webdav? Novaplayer does not support SMB?

As long as it works..I guess.
