Accoding to AI (Gemini Pro), one is able install Ubuntu server on a Qnap NAS. As the main os instead of QTS.
Is that true?
Fact is that my TS-253D reaches EOL in late '27, and i am looking for the cheapest way possible to keep using the very NAS.
EOL doesn’t mean that the devices no longer work. Even the TS-253pro, which reached EOL several years ago, still receives QTS updates.

That NAS is a regular x86 PC, if you want to deal with all the additional component management (fan controler, etc) you sure can, but would you have asked an AI if you knew how?
