I want to use the virtualization station alongside Docker. After installing the virtualization station, it tells me that I need a virtual switch. As soon as the switch is created, I cannot reach the web interface anymore (via local IP). Neither port 8080 nor https work. The only way to access the UI s via qnap website. I’ve searched the web but nothing works. What is the correct way to get this to work? I’m on the latest QTS on a TS364. Thanks!
In addition to the networking setup changes, it could be firewall or whitelist related. But, the suggested reset should clear all that for you and give you access back.
I can access the NAS via remote access via QNAP website. This allows me to delete the virtual switch and get the local access back. The issue is not that I lost access but that I want to use virtualization station (and thus a virtual switch) while keeping local UI access and can’t see a way to do it.
Control Panel → System → Security for some settings.
QuFirewall app for more. I don’t run it myself so can’t point you further.
I’m assuming it is something this simple since you can access via QNAP services (but I don’t like the security risk personally, so don’t run that either).
If your NAS is not exposed to the internet (for inbound traffic, which it shouldn’t), then you may want to look at QuFirewall and determine if it provides you with anything useful. If the answer is no, then you can disable it Similar for remote access via the QNAP services.
Obviously, only you can decide if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for your situation (I encourage you to do some research on this). Personally, I don’t have QuFirewall installed nor do I have the QNAP redirect in place.
I’m glad you were able to resolve your issue quickly and easily.
