I just changed service providers for my internet and can no longer access the NAS. I have a QNAP TS-451 NAS and running windows 10 on a desktop. The issue is the NAS was setup with a static IP of 192.168.254.50 and the new service/router uses 192.168.4.xxx. Are there any other methods or back doors I could use to get into my NAS and change the static to dynamic IP? I also have a laptop running windows 10 if that helps with the solution in any way. PLEASE HELP!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions,
Bob
You don’t need the old router, just set the same DHCP range as the old had, just make sure the fixed IP the NAS has is not in scope (so start higher or end lower
Not sure the new router will allow that. They gave me one of the eero Pro 6E routers and the only configuration that can be done is over a phone app. which is very limited unlike what I previously had.
Thanks for the link and I went to it and followed it but it did not like the range of IP addresses I put in. I really don’t like these routers. Do you know that if I do the 3 second reset that it will release my static IP address and not blow away all my user accounts?
I tried that as well. Now I am online with QNAP Tech support in the form of a ticket. It looks like the Basic reset is my only option going forward. That will have to wait until morning though!
You might also check your qnap display to see if dhcp is serving ip to your nas as well…or if it’s not getting one and work from there.
At the same time… wouldn’t hurt to do an orderly shutdown/restart of the nas. Even try running QFinder as well in your home network and see if it gets picked up.
If your NAS is a static IP, then plug your laptop directly into it. Then set a manual IP on the laptop to be in the same subnet. Then access the admin GUI.
I just ended up doing a Basic System Reset and the new router pick it up and with just a little work things should be back to normal again. I would like to thank everyone who reached out to me with suggestions.
