"Unable to send firmware update" notice won't go away

In my TS-453A, I have a continual Notice Board about firmware update notifications being disabled. No way to manually clear this Notice Board, and clicking on it brings me to the Firmware Update configuration page and starts creating a new rule for notifications.

But the notification rule certainly exists (I have re-created it several times, to be sure)

Only changing the Firmware update option to “do not notify me, do not automatically update” clears the notice board. Even setting it to Automatically install will keep the notice board there.

Seems others are having similar issues/confusion:

You are getting this because you have asked the system to notify you but you don’t have any method of notifying you set up in Notification Center. So it will never clear.

If you don’t want notifications about firmware updates, then change the option to “do not notify me.” If you want to receive notifications, then you need to set up a notification method in Notification Center - via email, Push, SMS, etc.

But I do have an active Email notification method and firmware rule setup in the Notification Center? I get email notifications when I change the name of the rule, etc. so it is working

Oh shoot. That’s what I get for not looking more closely at your pictures. That is weird. OK then. I would open a ticket on that…

Does it clear if you reboot the NAS?

unfortunately no

Bummer. Then I would open a support ticket with QNAP about it. Sounds like something is mucked up somewhere. They should be able to clear it…
