Upgrade to TS-673A

Hi

I currently have a TS-453B and looking to upgrade to a TS-673A. I have a few questions:

Will I be able to transfer my current 2.5-inch SSD drives and automatically work on the new NAS?
What would be the best compatible RAM to upgrade to 32gb?
Is there any difference in an AMD CPU compared to an Intel?
Will I be able to run VMs on this NAS smoothly?

Thank you for any reply

Hi,

for NAS migration

SSD

RAM, in the german-forum is a post

AMD and Intel are nearly the same cpu

VMs will run, but not so fast

If the 2.5 inch SSD are pure storage, no problem… if they run QTier or Cache make sure you destage those first.

Thanks for the replies. Very helpful.

Just one more question:
The NAS currently has 8gb of RAM. Can I add a 32gb stick to made the total RAM 40GB or do I need 2 equal sized RAM sticks (i.e. 2x 16gb sticks)?

Sometimes it works, sometimes not

I have 2x8 and 2x16 in my h1288X, works like a charm for 3 years now

My TS-264 work with 40 GB (8+32) for 1 year.
My TS-364 work with 20 GB (4-16) for 2,5 years.
No problems

Thanks for the rapid replies. Just the info I needed

Only buy quality RAM. Intel cpu’s can run some programs that others can’t such as HyperData Protector.

HDP needs x86, AMD will do just fine here as well (and that Chinese x86 processor too I guess)

I’ve been running 2 x 16GB Crucial CT2K16G4SFD824A SODIMMs on my TS-673A for a number of years

Thanks again for the replies.

I’m looking at buying either https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Impact-64-3200MHz-KF432S20IBK2/dp/B097QJ74WQ/ref=sr_1_4?sr=8-4

or

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT2K32G4SFD832A-SODIMM-260-Pin-Memory/dp/B07ZLCVKPV/ref=sr_1_4?sr=8-4

Any recommendation on which one is best?

My TS-264 run with the crucial ( 1 x 32 GB) CT32G4SFD832A. :+1:

It’s the same RAM only 1 x 32

Kingston or PNY on the ram question.
