Using USB/USB-C Hub w/ QNAP TR-004

Hello! I recently set up my new QNAP TR-004 and noticed that there was only one USB-C output.

I own a video production company and my hope was to use the TR-004 as the first place that all of our footage is imported to after a shoot. My plan was to then run a 50 ft USB-C cable from the DAS to each editing bay so we can transfer the footage from the TR-004 to the computers where we’ll be doing the actual editing on.

I don’t want to lose a ton of transfer speed especially since it’s common to come back to our office with 250 GB of footage to transfer, and now we’ll have to transfer that footage twice… Memory Cards → DAS, DAS → Editing Bay. Can someone please recommend a Hub or another solution that would help with this case? Thank you!

To me this is more of a NAS solution with 2.5 or 10 gbe solutions. The TR004 is hindered by its SATA speed and then adding the hub and longer cables will not help. I understand the cost different would be quite a bit since the TR is only 175ish right now but a mid to upper 4bay NAS would be mine choice for sure even at 3x the cost

You cannot share a DAS block storage with more than one host. Hence there is ‘only one’ USB-C port on the TR-004.

So yes, if you want to access file storage with more than one party, you need a NAS
