On a QTS NAS the consistency of raid1 and error free availability is automatically checked using a timetable which includes a complete read check of all data / sectors on all involved discs / SSDs. On the other side regarding the LED (disc 1 dark, disc 2 green) while reading from TR-002 only 1 of 2 discs is used. But how and at what time would the TR-002 recognize unreadable blocks on the disc 2 - after failure of disc 1 when there is no way around using disc 2?
The central question is:
Is there any check done on external enclosures like TR-002? I have found no hint to start a manual check, a time table based or any other check (except looking for SMART-Data).
Does anybody know the answer?
