Virtualization Station: OS not listed

Hello everyone,

What is the purpose of the pre-defined operating systems when creating a new virtual machine?

My goal is to install a very lightweight Linux system, but of course I’m not intending to install a Linux version that is outdated. Unfortunately there is only one very old Debian distribution listed. See also: What operating system can I deploy in Virtualization Station?

So when installing Debian 12 should I select “Debian 9.1.0” or choose “Generic”?
How does this selection affect the VM?

I’m running the latest version of Virtualization Station, version 4.0.0.256 (20241014)

It just preseletcs some settings for NIC,RAM, etc.

You can use it or ignore it.

If you later want to change some settings or change settings you cannot reach via GUI, you can do that via VIRSH
