WD NAS RED Pro 1TB works fine in Windows but get I/O errors in my TS-831X NAS

As the title says, this disk works fine in Windows but not in the NAS. NAS reports health status as good but Disk Access History (I/O errors). Estimated life is 95%. I am doing a bad block scan on the disk and requested that any I/O errors be cleared if none are found.

If none are found, is that a good enough indicator that the disk is okay or should I try and do some further testing within the NAS environnment?

Thanks!

During my life and work with QTS, I noticed that normally QTS is right when identifying disks as bad.

So I would no longer use this disk for serious matters.

Thanks. I tend to agree with you. The bad block check ran to completion and the disk was restored to normal operation. I moved it to an array that is not critical and will monitor it for a while.

Which Type of WD RED? WD10EFRX or WD10EFAX

It’s a WDS100T1R0A-68A4W0 SSD.

OK, Firmware must be 411010WR

I can’t be sure but okay. I assume there is no way to update the firmware, if warranted, when having the drive installed in the NAS and would have to be moved off to a Windows environment, etc.

Do you think the firmware needs updating?
