What applications do I need to have installed along with Qumagie?

  • NAS model: TS-264

  • OS: QTS 5.2.8.3332

Hi, there,

I have my personal photo and video collection on my NAS, using Qumagie.

Could you please tell me which apps (CAYIN, etc.) I need to have installed to create thumbnails for both videos and photos, and to be able to view and play videos in both the web version and the Qumagie Android app?

For one reason or another, I’ve installed four or five different applications: CAYIN Media Viewer, CAYIN MediaSign Player Plus, Video Station… And now I’m at a point where I don’t know what each application does and which ones are strictly necessary.

Most of my older photos are JPEGs and the videos are H.264. My newer photos are HEIC and the videos are H.265.

Which applications are absolutely necessary for me to have installed?

Thank you very much!

As I know if want to play the JPEG photos and H.264 videos, you need to install these applications on NAS:

  • QuMagie for the Album with photos and videos.
  • Multimedia Console* for the database for the photos and videos.
  • Video Station…some video-related backend functions seems still related to this…
  • CAYIN Media Viewer for the decode the H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) videos.

CAYIN Media Sign Player is no longer needed, it has been replaced by CAYIN Media Viewer.

Thanks, @haru0 !!

Also, when you attempt to install an app, the system will let you know what dependent apps are not installed and give you the option to install them.
