Where to submit patches for Ubuntu Installer

I recently acquired a QNAP NAS, and I run Linux Mint, which is based off Ubuntu. Naturally, I downloaded QNAPQfinderProUbuntux64-7.12.3.0527.deb and tried to install it, since 99% of “Ubuntu” .debs will run on Mint just fine.

However, because of the way the preinst script in the .deb package checks the OS version number, it fails to install.

So I fixed it, tested it, and verified that it works on Ubuntu and anything derived from it, but don’t know where to submit my fixed script. There’s the “Developer Partner” page, but I’m not part of a development company - I’m just an end user.

The link above includes the revised version of preinst as well as preinst.diff showing what was changed.

I’m afraid I don’t have the required trust level yet. That said, I’ve published everything to this Git repository, including the patched .deb installer.

Thanks for your contribution! We’ll have our internal team look into it.

anybody wanting to run this on a debian / debian mint system may want to check out all the extensive testing we did on this. he tried a lot of coding magic and he did come up with some good ideas to get it running. please check it out and give him a star or follow or add to the discussion.
