I am running a TS-251 and on QTS 5.1.9.2954. I cannot log on to the NAS via the IP Address. When I select the NAS in Qfinder, I get this error message.
What should I do here?
I can log in using myqnapcloudlink.

I guess you moved the NAS to a new network or got a new router ?
Do a 3 second reset to change to DHCP
That sounds right. I did get an internet upgrade although the router and ISP stayed the same. Will that give me a new IP address?
Maybe…it’s hard to tell from afar.
I can log in using myqnapcloudlink.
Since can log in via myQNAPcloud, should be able to go to Network & Virtual Switch to check its current IP, and then log in using that IP? (And confirm whether the group IP is the same as that displayed by Qfinder)
Thanks. OK, I checked that.
The IP address that is listed there is the same that I have had, but I cannot use it to access the QNAP. I can access other services that are installed on the QNAP remotely (e.g. Emby)
That is an internal IP, millions have the same…no need to censor it…
Still do a 3 second reset to return to DHCP and to lift any access locks…or at least switch it to DHCP from fixed
OK I did that. But the problem persisted. Now, logging in via myqnapcloud link my regular device login names and passwords don’t work anymore.
You did the DHCP or the 3 second reset ?
Login via admin and cloudkey if you did the 3 second reset.
Yes, I did the 3 second reset. How do I login via admin and cloudkey.
Ah, this is it right? Cloud Install
I do not want to delete any data.
Use Qfinder to find your NAS DHCP assigned IP (or use your routers DHCP table) and login
I have never done the cloud install, but this would be the reason to never share your NAS cloudkey or MAC address publicly

How do I do that? I have Qfinder, and I can get into my router’s home page. But how do i find this DHCP assigned IP?
Qfinder should show the IP in the interface
As there is ton of different routers out there, you would have to check your router manual if and where your DHCP table is.
OK: I found the DHCP lease table in my router, and I see all my devices there. But I do not see anything that is clearly listed as a QNAP NAS. Would it be clearly labelled as such? If it’s not there, what would that mean?
That would mean that the QNAP, for some reason, did not request a DHCP lease.
Some routers show only MAC adresses, some show NETBIOS names, some show both (plus OS info, manufacturer, etc)
Hi @dm, I just tried it here with one of my NAS. That site couldn’t connect to the NAS after providing the cloud key.
Seems odd that QNAP have a site to setup cloud access (and that the site doesn’t require the user to have logged-in with a QID), but the NAS won’t reveal details of itself to QNAP unless cloud access has already been configured inside the NAS. So, what’s the point of the site? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I always thought that a new NAS that somehow has WAN access would connect to this site to receive initial configuration. Great as a thought, but anyone with that cloudkey could then take over your NAS (at least when it’s sitting there unconfigured)… Even worse would be if you could ‘configure’ it at any time, so basically a big vulnerability for any NAS.
@OneCD, willing to pop all disks and just test it with a fresh disk ?
So what should I try now? I turned the damn thing off and on again. Now it is showing a different IP address in the Qfinder. I can’t loginto that IP address. And after doing the factory reset, none of my passwords or user names work any more to log into the device.
What is the IP it shows ?
An actual IP from your network (no need to withhold this … millions have the same) or some zeroconf address where it cannot reach your DHCP (e.g. 169.254.x.y)?
