Security Updates

  • Applied multiple security updates to further enhance system security.

New Features

NFS

  • Added support for NFS over RDMA. When used with supported 100G NICs (such as Mellanox ConnectX-6 or QXG-100G2SF-BCM), NFS over RDMA helps reduce I/O latency and CPU usage while improving data transfer performance.

Enhancement

Domain Controller

  • Added a new DNS interface configuration option, allowing users to manually select which network interfaces a domain controller’s DNS service should listen on.

SAMBA

  • A new option, “Accelerate copying large number of small files”, is now available when the kernel-mode SMB daemon is enabled. This feature improves performance when handling large numbers of small files.

Fixed Issues

  • Resolved a rare issue where the system might incorrectly report an IP conflict under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where users could not delegate roles to user groups with very long names.
  • Fixed an issue in “Helpdesk > Remote Support” where the “Extend” button was disabled, preventing users from extending a remote support session.
  • Fixed an issue in File Station where copying files to another folder might automatically generate an empty “.@__thumb” folder, even though thumbnail display was disabled.
  • Resolved an issue where users were unable to search NAS files via SMB in macOS Finder when Qsirch was installed on the NAS.
  • Addressed a rare issue where some users received desktop notifications for issues that had already been resolved.
  • Fixed an issue where importing a file to restore system settings could take longer than expected or cause the system to become unresponsive.
  • Resolved an issue where the system continued to record NCSI-related log messages even after the NCSI service had been disabled.
  • Fixed an issue where after updating the firmware of a QXG-25G2SF-CX6 expansion card, the corresponding log message displayed incorrect information.
  • Corrected inaccurate UI text in File Station.
  • Fixed an issue in Control Panel where after changing the system date and time format, the expiry date shown in the “Edit Account Profile” window would update to the wrong date and format.

Updated my TS-264.
The NAS and all Apps are running correctly.

No issues here either.

I’ve got no issues here with my TS-451A!

No problem neither here (TS-X32U) but I am sorry to see that the issue introduced by Microsoft last 8th of July has not been solved yet :frowning: and the samba patch is already there.

Updated my TS-364. The NAS and all Apps are running correctly.

I have a TS-253A.
After this update my NAS became very slow.
CPU often goes to 100%.
I have a linux VM running on virtualization station, so something could be wrong with the virtualization.

I had to rollback to 5.2.5.3145.

IPV6 doesn’t work in docker.

Are there any plans to update docker?

Added support for NFS over RDMA. When used with supported 100G NICs (such as Mellanox ConnectX-6 or QXG-100G2SF-BCM), NFS over RDMA helps reduce I/O latency and CPU usage while improving data transfer performance.

the above feature is just greyed out for meunder NFS Service, I have the QXG-100GS2F card in my NAS, not sure why? I have tried the various options.

Same problem here with TS-453B. 100% CPU even after fresh reboot. There is a Python3 process under Virtualization Station eating up 15-30% constantly, although no VM is running.

I also have a TS-253A. No issues after updating the firmware to 3195. I am not running Virtualization Station.

My TS-453Be is experiencing significant performance degradation after this update.

CPU load at idle is now 40-80% (Used to be lower than 30% in the previous update), SMB throughput also dropped to just ~60 MB/s (from 100+ MB/s) likely due to CPU load. The Web UI is also laggy and even unresponsive.
I do have QVR Pro running in the background by the way.

My current workaround is downgrading to QTS 5.2.5.3145, it resolves all these issues.

Also seeing high CPU usage on a TVS-872XT with a python process and multiple chartreq.cgi processes using the cpu

Also got high and practically unusable cpu usage after this upgrade on TS-251B

Hello,

I have the same problem on a TS-453Be.

Now I also downgraded to previous version.

The performance is good again.

Running QVRPro on my TS-251B & using via PC on QVRPro Client. NAS CPU at constant 100% and practically unuseable. Had to downgrade to QTS 5.2.5.3145 build 20250526.

Hi @dons1960 we have reproduced a similar issue. With the same QVR Server version and camera configuration, the QTS 5.2.6 uses more CPU resources than QTS 5.2.5. We are currently investigating the cause.

If you want to downgrade the firmware, you need to download the QTS 5.2.5 firmware file from the website.

Then go to the Control Panel → System → Firmware Update → Manual installationand use that file to update system

After uploading the firmware file to the NAS, a “Downgrade Firmware” confirmation window should appear. Click “I have read…” to process with the downgrade.

Or you can refer to this page to downgrade

I run pfSense+ firewall and an nxFilter (ad blocker for network) in a virtual machine on a TS-453Be (90% of the time this architecture has been fine) and since upgrading to QTS 5.2.6.3195 I was dealing with incredibly slow performance and high cpu loads both on my NAS and in the virtual machine [and on my entire network]. I am sure if I checked, QNAP temps were likely raised as well. Speed Tests both through my network, from the firewall itself, and ssh’d into the QNAP were about 1/8th of my usual. My Eero wireless mesh devices run a test every night at the same time and after the first night showed a drop from an average 629Mbps/627Mbps down to around 80/72. Process monitoring did show a good number of never-ending python processes, so could be related. Like others, I resolved by downgrading back to QTS 5.2.5.3145. Despite the strong “this is not supported” messaging thankfully the revert process was successful. I’d encourage QNAP to consider officially supporting the downgrading process within MAJOR version for some reasonable # of hops as unexpected, untenable issues can arise and take some time to troubleshoot which requires someone to find an interim solution beyond waiting for a future release to address that issue.

I notice QTS firmware update is now advising I am on the latest version, so I suspect QNAP has recognized the issues with 5.2.6.3195 and pulled it. I don’t see anything in the change log that glaringly stands out as potentially causing so potentially just some technical debt refactoring led us here. I’ll likely keep a look out on the forums for the good news that the next version doesn’t have similar issues before upgrading or at bare minimum wait some time before I upgrade in the future. Cheers
